Given the evolution of dental technologies and materials, implants are nowadays the best solution for the replacement of missing teeth.

Implants are small titanium metal screws (perfectly biocompatible) placed in the supporting bone and playing the same role as a dental root.

After a period of about 6 to 8 weeks of tissue healing around the implant (called bone-integration), a dental crown is permanently attached (screwed or bonded) to this screw. Other types of elements may also be attached, such as bridges or prostheses.

In order to maintain a minimum aesthetic and function during the healing phase of the implant it is obviously possible to make a temporary crown or a temporary removable prosthesis.

Regarding the session during which we put the implant in the bone, it is considered quite minor by all patients since they report postoperative symptoms quite comparable to those of a dental extraction.

Finally, it should be noted that many brands of implants are available on the market and their quality is absolutely not comparable. Whether it concerns the titanium type, the resistance to wear and fracture, the strength of connections between screw and crown, statistical data can vary from 1 to 10 between these brands, and we believe that patients should be notified by their dentist before any operation is performed. This is why we made the choice to use the the implants from world leader Straumann, the Swiss brand leading the field in implantology.
